BIO:

James Baseley / DJ, Producer (UK)

The love of the 'Wheels of Steel' started out for James 35 years ago as the school resident DJ playing 80's Soul and Hip Hop.

True vinyl addiction set in with the birth of the Acid House and Warehouse scenes in and around London in the late 80's and so seeded a deep-rooted obsession and vinyl addiction for House music.

Team all this with years of tinkering in the studio and a musical path was laid out in front of him. The early 90's brought us jungle, Drum and Bass and other musical variations for the discerning dance floor all of which kept James alive and hungry both as a producer and DJ.

Moving on and into the turn of the new millennium and the broken beat sounds emanating from West London caught James’ ear and inspired him to investigate a new musical vibe. This and a move to Prague lead to the start of the broken beat/nu jazz label Red Salamanda out of a desire to release some of his own productions and those of new friends made in Prague.

DJ duties in Prague have seen James support and warm up for the likes of DJ Gregory, Ian Pooley, Carl Craig, Jose Padilla and Gilles Peterson from among many others. Club and festival DJ sets have continued to this very day with regular spots in Prague, neighboring cities and further afield such as Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival in the Summer of 2019.

Here on Easygrooves Radio James serves up a monthly varied selection of laidback music with a nod to the past and the future on each musical journey. Freedom to play a wide selection of styles whilst keeping a narrative is what James enjoys when putting together these mixes ! For you aural listening pleasure …..hope you enjoy
